Our friends over at READ WALL are expanding their classic American sartorial footprint. The DC-based men’s tailored clothing brand and custom tailor just announced the opening of a new pop-up location on bustling Bethesda Row, in Bethesda, Maryland. The shop is located at at 4838 Bethesda Avenue.
Just north of Washington, D.C., this location is well situated for the brand’s second retail outlet. The neighborhood abuts numerous professional offices and a rapidly expanding high-end condo market filled with young and stylish potential customers. READ WALL’s flagship store is located at 1921 8th St. NW, in D.C.’s trendy Shaw neighborhood.
Last month, Read’s team was presented with an unexpected opportunity to move into the premium space on the bustling pedestrian-focused high street – they didn’t hesitate.
We have been fans of Read since he launched his eponymous brand several years ago. With its distinctive take on contemporary American prep, READ WALL’s look is distinctively preppy, tailored, modern, and most importantly, genuine. From those early days of slim cut chinos and flap pocket oxfords, the brand has grown to include highly regarded tailored clothing. They now specialize in hand made, full canvas tailoring, produced at some of the best American factories, as well as READ WALL’s own workshop in D.C.
With a goal of being an updated version of the traditional haberdashery, the line includes suits, sport coats, trousers, tuxedos, dress shirts, and Alden footwear. While they still have a selection of off-the-rack products, the business primarily focuses on custom clothing. They also work closely with American Woolen Company based in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, to produce a 100% American-made garment.Fabric offerings include Vitale Barberis, Scabal, Dormeuil, and Loro Piana.
