Timberland isn’t just about outdoor excursions anymore. In care you missed it, this classic American heritage brand has deftly re-branded the Timberland ethos to tap into the fact that many younger style influencers and urban nomads are calling the city home these days.
They have the same sense of adventure and exploration as their forefathers, but now inhabit a world where culture and fashion, urbanization, and globalization collide. The spirit of classic Timberland is still alive and well, however, the energy of today’s Timberland is clearly present in what the brand is putting forth to the market.
We happen to think they are doing a great job. Trim and contemporary khakis, a beautiful take on the iconic A-1 flight jacket, and a simple, updated knit watch cap feel both timeless and completely current. Timberland isn’t shaking off what makes it special , but it is doubling down on the heritage, vintage movement in the menswear space. And, of course, they have the library and actual heritage to do so.
A great example of the heritage approach is the Timberland Boot Company micro brand. Made in America and based on the company’s historic archives (1900-1945 to be precise), this capsule collection of mens footwear is rugged and durable while also hewing toward the vintage market. These Coulter Pull-On boots are a great example of this timeless appeal, rendered in Horween leather that will only get better with age and abuse.
